My new blog, at www.judypetsonk.com, is called “Wise-hearted Women.” Please participate and invite your friends. The Biblical book of Exodus tells how “Wise-hearted Women” helped build a sanctuary for the ancient Hebrews wandering in the desert. I hope we can build a sanctuary for each other, whatever our faiths, whatever our experiences.
We “Wise-hearted Women” will share books, blogs, and stories of real women who have taught us about strength, love, faith, wisdom. About learning from mistakes, moving beyond pain, finding joy.
My first recommendation:”CHAPTERS OF THE HEART: Jewish Women Sharing the Torah of Our Lives,” edited by Rabbis Sue Levi Elwell and Nancy Fuchs Kreimer. The wise-hearted women in these pages contributed stories of their own relationships, in-laws, parenting, sisters, mothers, hysterectomy, infertility, aging. They share not only their pain, but how they found sources of strength and grace. I agree with Anne Lamott who wrote about this book, “Nothing moves me more than women telling the truth about their real lives.”
